How quickly can I get scheduled for my exam?
Same day!! At Bluegrass Regional Imaging, we know how important it is to get answers and get them right away!! We can work you into our schedule at one of our 3 convenient Lexington locations!!
Will my insurance cover the cost of my exam?
Prior to the patient's visit to Bluegrass Regional Imaging, the physician's office ordering the scan will seek authorization from the patient's insurance company. They will determine if the exam is medically necessary and will give the "pre certification" necessary for us to proceed.
Do I pay a co pay?
No, we do not charge a co pay.
What if I do not have insurance?
Patients that do not have insurance have several different payment options. At Bluegrass Regional Imaging, patients may choose to receive a half price discount by paying the day of the scan. Or, they may pay 10 % of the entire cost of the exam and set up payments for the remainder. Those that feel they will qualify, may fill out financial aid information to apply for assistance with the payment of their visit.
What is the difference in an MRI and a CT exam?
An MRI procedure uses a magnetic field and its images are in 3-D. A CT exam uses radiation and its images are in 2-D.
What is a CT exam going to show?
It will show your body's organs, lymph nodes and blood vessels.
How long will the exam take?
The actual exam time will be anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes. Some patients will need to drink oral contrast one hour prior to the exam. For some scans, an IV will be necessary.
Why may I need to drink oral contrast?
For certain exams, the patient will need to drink an oral contrast to highlight their digestive tract.
Why may I need to have an IV for my exam?
An IV may be necessary for exams that need to highlight the vascular system.
Does a CT exam hurt?
No. The patient will feel no pain during a CT exam, it is only taking pictures!!
Will I need to undress?
In most cases, no.
Will I feel "enclosed" when I have my scan?
No, you will simply lie down on the scanner table and it will be positioned to take the necessary images without enclosing you.
Will I have any restrictions after my exam?
No, in fact, you may go back to your normal routine right away!!
How soon will my results be available?
We understand how important it is for you and your doctor to get the answers to your questions and get them FAST!! The physician who ordered your scan should receive your results within a few hours of your exam.
