At Bluegrass Regional Imaging, we want our patients to feel comfortable about their entire examination process. Our staff is extremely thorough in their explanation of what the patient can expect before, during and after their CT or PET/CT exam. Some questions are asked frequently so we thought we would answer those for you now!

Same day!! At Bluegrass Regional Imaging, we know how important it is to get answers and get them right away!! We can work you into our schedule at one of our 3 convenient Lexington locations!!
Will my insurance cover the cost of my exam?
Prior to the patient’s visit to Bluegrass Regional Imaging, the physician’s office ordering the scan will seek authorization from the patient’s insurance company. They will determine if the exam is medically necessary and will give the “pre certification” necessary for us to proceed.
Do I pay a co-pay?
No, we do not charge a co pay.
What if I do not have insurance?
Patients that do not have insurance have several different payment options. At Bluegrass Regional Imaging, patients may choose to receive a half price discount by paying the day of the scan. Or, they may pay 10 % of the entire cost of the exam and set up payments for the remainder. Those that feel they will qualify may fill out financial aid information to apply for assistance.
What is a CT exam going to show?
It will show your body’s organs, bones, soft tissues and blood vessels in great detail.
Why may I need to drink oral contrast?
For certain exams, the patient will need to drink an oral contrast to highlight specific organs, blood vessels and/or soft tissues to better show the presence of disease or injury.
Why may I need to have an IV for my exam?
For certain exams, the patient will need an IV to administer contrast to highlight specific organs, blood vessels and/or soft tissues to better show the presence of disease or injury.
Will I need to undress?
In most cases, no. But depending on what your physician has ordered you may need to slip into a gown or remove jewelry or piercings.
Will I have any restrictions after my exam?
